Wales Tour 2013 - Day Five (part 1)

Hi guys,

yes, I'm still here, still uploading pics! *lol*

I'm gonna split up day 5 as there're simply too many filming spots I discovered. And also because Caerphilly Castle (our first location on that day) is just such a beautiful place, it deserves its own entry! :D

It's so much easier to find the right spots if you have something more distinctive than rocks and trees to go on. ;) Still, I'll probably show only a little fraction of how this amazing castle has been used over the years, but I hope you'll enjoy it anyway. :)

But first things first... the dogs... ;)

(Picture taken at the stone circle near Caerphilly Castle)

and Caerphilly Castle itself

(Hopefully, you can see the huge wooden figure holding up the leaning south east tower.
It represents the 4th Marquess of Bute and was made just this year in April.)

Caerphilly Castle

2x04 - Lancelot and Guinevere

Both scenes were filmed in the Great Hall.

3x08 - The Eye of the Phoenix

The entrance in the middle were also used when Arthur - and later Merlin and Gwaine - entered the castle
of the Fisher King. Unfortunately I didn't realised that at the time (I thought it was a different one),
so I don't have a clear shot of it... only this:

And even more annoyingly, I took the pic from the wrong side of the gangway, but at least you can see the handrail, can't you? ^^

The same doorways were also used for Morgana's Fortress in Ismere.

5x02 - Arthur's Bane

But back to "The Eye of the Phoenix", which will be the episode of the day, I suppose. ^^
And as it's one of my favourite episodes (especially the scene with the Fisher King) I got really excited seeing all this in real life! :D

5x10 - The Kindness of Strangers

Caerphilly Castle was also the place where these lovely promo shots were taken:

Do you understand now, why this castle needed its own entry? *lol* I'm still completely and utterly overwhelmed!
I wanna go back there! *sniffles*

Oops, completely forgot about (t)his special appearence at the castle... *rofl*

Alas, we weren't able to find his counterpart... ;)
